cPanel vs Plesk Servers
cPanel vs Plesk Servers
Article
In the world of web hosting there are two major players who provide control panel interfaces. The first is called cPanel and the second is called Plesk. cPanel is the market leader because it has the most user friendly environment and is preferred by hosting companies, web developers, webmasters and novice users. For this reason the vast majority of our customers will have a cPanel hosting account and when we ask for access to the web hosting control panel we'll refer to it as cPanel.
This can cause a problem for our clients that are using Plesk. By comparison we find that Plesk is slow, buggy, extremely frustrating to work with and often not compatible with our software. Many times Plesk servers are interfering with the way the cron jobs work or the mobile sites work. If you find that you are using a Plesk server we urge you to ask your host to move you to the superior cPanel interface or consider moving to a new hosting company.
You can find out what type of control panel you are using based on how you login to it. A cPanel server will have the following login URL:
www.example.com/cpanel
www.example.com:2082
A Plesk server will have the following login URL:
www.example.com:8443
If you are on a Plesk server we can almost guarantee that you'll experience some kind of problem using our software due to the way it handles cron jobs, database queries and mobile sites - which can be different from server to server. If you are having some problems please consider changing to a cPanel server or bear with us while we try to find solutions to your reported problems.
